I have to start by telling an adorable story regarding this book first.
Today I had a class visit of kindergarteners to the library. I asked the children to draw ocean scenes to be displayed. As I admired their art, one little boy said to me he is going to draw a mermaid like Arial. He explained how wanted to be a mermaid and snapped his tiny fingers. I brought him this book. He pause and touched the mermaid and said “He looks just like me” โค๐งก๐๐๐๐
This book is about Kia who loves to hug everyone but he learns that not everyone likes hugs. When the puffer fish gets upset about getting a squish, Kai learns there are other ways to greet his friends and to always ask first. This is a wonderful book about consent.
