It is very difficult to explain to a child what it means to be depressed. This book is about a clinically depressed parent and how he explains what it means to be depressed to his child. The book explains the differences between sadness and depression and how it is not anyone’s fault. The author illustrates the mannerisms of depression and how it is always underlying.
The child is worried it “will happen to them”. I like how the author doesn’t say it will not happen, rather the child is told to reach out to their parents for help of they do feel depressed.
