Written and illustrated by: Phoebe Eloise Unterman.
The story is written and illustrated by the author who tells the story of her great-grandmother’s plight when Germany invaded Poland and the Nazis forced all Jewish people to concentration camps. As a six-year-old girl, young Eva did not understand all the whispering and worrying that was going on around her. Her family is forced from their home, into the Lodz Ghetto, and then on to Auschwitz and other concentration camps. Her family is finally liberated by Russian troops, and they are able to re-build their lives in Germany.
Eva shared her story in order to bring attention to the violent situations and to honor the millions of children whose lives were cut short by the Nazis. (From GoodReads.)
