Movin’ and Shakin’: Preschool Egg Shaker Counting Song

Movin’ and Shakin’ by La La Librarian

This song was inspired by a warm-up game I used to play in theatre class called “Countdown.” In this game, you start by shaking one hand ten times, then you repeat with your other hand, and then do the same with each foot. Then you shake 9 times, then 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and finally once on each hand and foot. It gets sillier as the numbers get smaller and you can feel the movements getting closer together. It’s a great game for older elementary kids and up, so I wanted to make a version that littles could do too!

Lyrics:

Movin’ and shakin’
You’re movin’ and shakin’
Movin’ and shakin’ and movin’ all day long
Movin’ and shakin’
You’re movin’ and shakin’
Movin’ and shakin’ and grovin’ to this song
