Aunt Lilly’s Laundromat

Aunt Lilly’s Laundromat

Written and illustrated by: Melanie Hope Greenberg.

First off I need to point out how beautiful the art is in this book! It is so vibrant and cheerful 😊.

This picture book follows the day of a woman named Aunt Lilly who immigrated from Haiti to Brooklyn, NY. Aunt Lilly owns a laundromat and is beloved in the community. It is clear that she was welcomed into a very loving community who support each other. A neighbor even took the time to teach her English. As she goes through her day she speaks of connections between her work and her past life in Haiti. I love how the author uses the Haitian phrases through out the book. The book also promotes being kind to the world as Aunt Lilly doesn’t use harmful detergents. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
