At first glance this book is about a child who is scared of big storms. When I read the book a second time I started feeling that it could be directed at many triggers of anxiety. Greta’s boots and the jacket they put on are symbols for coping mechanisms. When the child does not have their umbrella they are missing the most important coping mechanism and they panic. Greta’s teacher gives them the support to understand that what they do have is enough to get them home safely. In the end the child is still scared of storms but they are able to deal with puddles and the aftermath of harsh weather.
