Our Skin: A First Conversation about Race

Our Skin: A First Conversation about Race

Our skin book cover.

Written by: Megan Madison and Jessica Ralli.

Illustrated by: Isabel Roxas.

This book covers how melanin effects skin color, what racism is and even a bit on the history of racism. The book explains to small children how the color of someone’s skin doesn’t change personality or things a person enjoys. It also gives a very detailed explanation of racism, what it means and historical background. This sounds like a lot but the information is put out in a very understandable way to children of all ages. This is a great book for parents to introduce children to understanding diversity mostly if they live in a less diverse community.
