This is a book about a child from the Dominican Republic finding her way in Brooklyn, New York. In the book Jessica finds it hard to feel comfortable in her new home. The language barrier is frustrating to her and she is having a hard time feeling settled. Her mother doesn’t find a suitable apartment quickly and they have to live with family. Jessica is also behind the other students in her class.. What I like about this books is that Jessica’s homesickness didn’t go away over night. It took bonding with people (and cats  ) in a similar situation.
