While this picture book doesn’t describe in detail the horrors of the Holocaust, it does open the doors to discussion for young readers. The author wrote this book in the way young children read. Repetitive words and patterns in the story. While most websites say this book is for ages 9 and up, I think younger readers would learn from this book. They may need an adult to read with them to explain the history and explain that not everyone was as successful as the family in this story.
The story is about a child and her family who are hiding a Jewish mother and her son from the soldiers on the streets until they can make their way to the harbor.
