Unspeakable: The Tulsa Race Massacre

Unspeakable: The Tulsa Race Massacre

Written by: Carole Boston Weatherford.

Illustrated by: Floyd Cooper.
We have a responsibility to reject hatred and violence and to instead choose hope (paraphrased from last page of book)

This picture book explains the history behind the Tulsa Race Massacre in way children can understand it. The beginning of the book expresses hope and positivity as each page starts with the words “Once upon a time” as a community of people build a beautiful neighborhood. The horrors of what happened to this community is explained towards the end of the book. This is a book ANY age readers can benefit from. I learned from this book. ❤
