The 2024 release of INSIDE OUT 2 is the perfect time to explore books about feelings, and how to incorporate SEL (Social Emotional Learning) elements into your storytimes.
There are ten emotions depicted in Inside Out 2, so each one will have its own post.
Today, it’s all about DISGUST!

This is a very short list.
Many of the books that come up in keyword / subject searches are focused on the (initial) disgust children feel, when presented with food from other cultures. Or, food in general, ie ‘picky eaters’. I have included one picky eater book. And, one book about a cat who is disgusted by a dog’s behaviour. Which, honestly, is just a metaphor for other cultures.
I feel that these are inappropriate messages to reinforce, by presenting such books as being recommended to read in a storytime about disgust.
