Compiled by Auntie Anne.
February may be Love Your Library month.
But I say every day is Love Your Library day.
Members of the Storytime Solidary Facebook group shared their favourite picture books about library love.
And some shared stories and art from their library kids.
Note: all book covers are links to the book’s information on our website.
Children remain, blessedly, full of magic & sunshine.
Last week at an outreach event a little boy said “I’m so glad you’re here, Ms. Tracey! I love you more than dirt bikes and parties!”
Keep up the good work, my beautiful colleagues!
I led an outreach story time (outside of our library) at a local preschool. I popped into town later that day for an errand. This little boy from the preschool saw me and ran across the shop. He threw is arms around my legs and yelled, “You read to ME!” My heart!
Small human (4ish)’s grown up walks into library saying ‘there’s Anne!’ So I chat and smile.
As they leave, I come out of my office to farewell them.
Grown up informs me that Small human will now go home and Play Anne. Which involves wearing a scarf over their head & reading to their mum.
I believe the scarf is to imitate my unnatural hair colour. Currently purple and green and turquoise.
One of my toddlers told me how at home she plays “Miss Erin” where she makes the “books go beep beep” with her cash register play set. 🥺
I love the small humans! I had a similar tale of little brother going home, and reading his big brother a story like I would! Even got a photo of him in action!
