Notes from the team:
I’m so self-conscious about my singing that I very rarely sing, even alone. Not even in the shower. Not even when listening to favourite songs, and I’m the only one in the house.
Being part of the Storytime Solidarity team has given me more confidence in singing in public.
With trepidation, I embraced the opportunity to record myself singing our theme song – to celebrate our third birthday.
I knew that I was in a safe space, and would be in the safe and caring hands of Ms Elizabeth.
May 2025 allow you the chance to challenge yourself, with the support of a caring team.

I’ve been working with Storytime Solidarity for over a year now and have been grateful to meet and collaborate with these amazing folks. It was such a joy to coordinate and edit this video! Our goal for the video was to capture the light and joy of the Storytime Solidarity team through its theme song. Every single participant had to put time aside to not only learn the theme song, but also sing it on camera in one take – not an easy feat! And some folks were even brave enough to sing harmony. Thank you for trusting me with your voices and I hope that those who hear our theme song will feel as welcomed to Storytime Solidarity as I have felt.

Choral work can be Solidarity. Together, we are so much greater than the sum of our substantial parts. This video represents about half of the Storytime Solidarity team. Each a marvel. A beacon of kindness. A person dedicated enough to volunteer their time to make libraries just a little bit better. To support early literacy. And to support each other in doing what we can to make the world kinder.
I’m so, so grateful for every member of the team. And for the way we can work together like a choir, singing in harmony and bringing ever more complexity to our work. When I was a young singer, I was most amazed by the concept of choral or staggered breathing. A choir can hold an impossibly long note, longer than any single singer. Even Renee Fleming. And that’s what we do at Storytime Solidarity, our amazing team takes turns. We step up when needed and take breaks as we need. I’m so, so grateful to be making storytime magic with these amazing folks. With them I feel like I can finally breathe.
