A Note from Ms. Kate (she/they)

As the Solidarity team and I near our first anniversary, it’s as hard for me to believe it’s been a year as it is hard for me to believe it’s only been a year. In just a year we’ve grown our group to over 5k members, hosted numerous Allyship events, and built a truly amazing resource.

Our website now boasts an anti-racist song list with lots of songs and rhymes for little learners, nearly fifty blogs on all kinds of important topics, and one of the best picture book lists out there with recommendations from the many members of our Facebook group.

Looking towards the future we have big plans. More events, more content, more Solidarity. Recently, we’ve added the Solidarity for Grownups portion of the website to expand our offerings. Because the grownups who bring their kids to storytime need resources too. We’re about solidarity and we want to support all library workers and the people they serve.

Libraries are for everyone and this is only possible if we work together to create and promote inclusive spaces and resources.

We hope that you’ve enjoyed our work as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it for you. As always, please reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or recommendations. The team and I work to always be responsive to outside needs as we work together to build the kind of resource we’ve always wanted.

In Solidarity,

Kate

NOTES

  • Please research your content to make sure it is free from questionable origins and harmful hidden meanings.
  • For books, give a one-minute preview showing why you love it and why it’s great for storytime — we won’t read whole books for reasons of time and copyright.
  • Add your name to the list on a first-come-first-served basis and we will go through it as time allows.
