The Library for the Kind is a non-profit organization founded by a group of passionate librarians. Our mission is to provide children and families with access to books that celebrate diversity, inclusion, and kindness. We believe that every child deserves to see themselves in a book, and we work tirelessly to make that happen.
In 2020, during a time when children were going through a particularly difficult period, I was inspired to create the Library for the Kind. My initial focus was on providing children’s books that helped kids and families cope with depression and anxiety caused by isolation. Over time, I expanded our mission to support children facing a range of obstacles, including dysmorphia, parental incarceration, growing up LGBT+, and understanding people from different cultures and family backgrounds.
Our goal is to get these books into the hands of children who need them the most. We achieve this by donating books or resources to communities in need. During our annual fundraiser in 2023, we raised over $1000, which was donated to the Lavelle School for the Blind. This year, we aim to raise even more funds to support the Pop Culture Hero Coalition. – Kindly Stefanie
